SOHO COFFEE CO. DOESN’T WASTE FOOD. IT GOES TO CHARITY!
SOHO Coffee Co. in Cambray Place, Cheltenham is donating all of its unsold food to young homeless people through the County Community Projects (CCP). Without this donation many young homeless people in Cheltenham would be without food.
SOHO Coffee in Cheltenham has freshly made products on its shelves every
morning. However, this means there is always unsold food left at the
end of each day. This is why SOHO decided to donate un-sold products to
a branch of the CCP called the Cheltenham Foyer that provides housing,
training, education, employment, advice and support for vulnerable young
homeless people aged 16-25.
Louise Walker from the Cheltenham Foyer says, “Lots of the people we
house are very young, some of them have just come out of care homes,
others have been thrown out by their parents and they cannot afford to
buy themselves food, especially those still in full-time education. The
food that SOHO supplies is very helpful, it means everyone can have
something to eat during the day when they’re at college for example.
Without SOHO’s donations a lot of our young people would have to go
without.”
Zoey Mansfield, Manager of SOHO Coffee in Cambray Place explains why
they took the decision to make these daily contributions, “We want to
ensure that although our food is always fresh, that it also isn’t going
to waste. So everyday we bag-up everything that’s left over including
baguettes, sandwiches, muffins and salads and we know that instead of
wasting the food, it’s going to people who need it.” On average SOHO
give away £20,000 worth of food to the Cheltenham Foyer every year.
